Flow Cytometry Lab

Stanford Blood Center’s CLIA-certified Flow Cytometry Laboratory performs high-complexity clinical testing for patients while providing specialized flow cytometry services and expertise to researchers. The laboratory performs advanced characterization of Stanford Blood Center leukapheresis collection (leukopak) products to support research and clinical manufacturing applications.

In addition, the laboratory offers consultation, training, and technical support to staff, students, postdoctoral scholars, and investigators in all aspects of flow cytometry, including experimental design, assay development, instrument operation, data analysis, and best laboratory practices.

  • Multicolor Flow Cytometry cell analysis with cell preparation
  • Flow Cytometry cell sorting with cell preparation
  • Cell isolation and cryopreservation
  • Lymphocyte proliferation testing (mitogen and tetanus)
  • Immunophenotyping:
    • Total lymphocyte subsets (TBNK)
    • T cell subsets
    • Total B cells and B cells subsets
    • NK cells
    • Stem cell (CD34) enumeration, etc.

Instruments

Instrumentation for FACS Analysis and FACS sorting:

  • BD LSRFortessa X-20 equipped with blue, red, violet, yellow-green, and UV lasers (18 parameters)

  • BD FACSCanto II equipped with blue, red, and violet lasers (10 parameters)

  • Cytek Aurora CS equipped with blue, red, and violet lasers (Full Spectrum)
